You can use any yarn weight you like, just make sure to use the same weight for the entire pattern.
I have listed the yarn and how much I have used below. You can go even bigger or smaller if you like.
Yarn amount and hook size may vary according to your tension and personal preference.

Hobbii Yarn: Rainbow Cotton 8/4 SUPER FINE (1): 50 g (1.76 oz) = 170m (186 yds)

Shroom:
40 g. (1.41 oz.) Body color A – Black (009)
35 g. (1.23 oz.) Body color B – Greyish Purple (013)
15 g. (0.52 oz.) Cap color C – Baby Purple (067)
Toad:
20g. (0.70 oz.) Body color D – Army Green (021)
7 g. (0.24 oz.) Body color E – Olive (072)
Tools & other materials
Hook size 2.50 mm (B/1)
Scissors.
Needle.
Stitch marker.
Pins.
Fiber filling.
Safety eyes 8mm for the toad.
Optional:
Strong steel wire, gauge 18 (1.02mm) and pliers.
Water, blocking mat and 22 pins (to block the feet/toes)
