This is a crochet pattern for an amigurumi owl lady doll dressed in a classic A shaped lace dress, with an overlay skirt and a matching hooded capelet. Including a lantern and swirly long handle.

Using the recommended material for the original version, the doll is approximately 10” (25 cm) tall.

 

This pattern is in US terminology and is recommended for intermediate to advanced skill level.

This pattern has been thoroughly tested by several of my most trusted testers.

Description

THIS PATTERN CALLS FOR TWO YARN WEIGHTS, REFFERED TO AS A AND B THROUGHOUT THE PATTERN.

You can use any yarn weights you like, just make sure you use the same yarn weight for the entire doll’s body and lantern/handle. And a lighter weight for the attire (dress and hooded capelet)

In addition to the original sized doll portrayed in this pattern, I have listed some possible yarn weight options below. Yarn amount and hook sizes may vary according to your personal preference.

 

CHOOSE YOUR SIZE 

Approximate (rounded) sizes of the doll from the top of the head to the tip of the toe // Hook sizes (metric)

GAUGE FOR ALL: Dress SC 25 = Doll SC 20

 

TINY A Lace weight – 1.00 mm hook // B sewing thread. – 0.6 mm hook = 8” (20 cm)

*ORIGINAL A Fingering (8/4) – 2.50 mm hook // B lace weight – 1.50 mm hook = 10” (25 cm)

UP-SIZED A Worsted weight – 4.00 mm hook // B sock weight – 2.50 mm hook = 16” (45 cm)

SUPER SIZED A Bulky yarn – 6.00 mm hook // B DK. – 4.50 mm hook = 25” (65 cm)

 

*ORIGINAL

A yarn: Fingering (8/4): 50 g (1.75 oz) = 170 m (186 yds)

B yarn: Lace weight: 50 g (1.75 oz) = 280 m (308 yds)

 

YARN APPROXIMATE AMOUNTS:

Dress:

B yarn: Black 40 g.

 

Capelet & overlay skirt:

B yarn: Bordeaux 50 g.

 

Doll:

A yarn: Body color #1, latte 25 g.

A yarn: Body color #2, dark grey  20 g.

A yarn: Face color, ivory 3 g.

B yarn: Hands, bordeaux 3 g.

 

Lantern:

A yarn: Black 3 g.

A yarn: Pale yellow 4 g.

A yarn: Brown for handle 5 g.

 

TOOLS & OTHER MATERIALS

Hooks: Doll: 2.50 / Lantern: 2.50  / Attire: 1.50

 

Chopstick (or other tool) to help fill the legs.

Strong pliers.

6 stitch markers in two different colors.

Scissors, needle, fiber filling, paper tape, floral tape.

Wire, for the feet plus arms and legs, to make them poseable.

Safety eyes (fingering yarn = 12 mm)

 

Bright yellow and orange embroidery thread or fabric felt to make the lantern’s flame.

Hot or cold adhesive.

Intermediate to advanced.
