AMIGURUMI CROCHET PATTERN – INTERMEDIATE

The Coven is an excellent crochet pattern for peculiar souls.

Create the largest  witch coven ever seen.

This pattern has several mix and match body parts, for you to make multiple dolls with different postures. And of course this pattern also includes the most essential accessories for a proper witch. Hats and brooms: 3 of each, plus a set of horns to mix the aesthetics a bit up. 

Best of all, the doll requires minimal sewing, a total of 6 stitches is needed. – Not counting accessories.

Description

WHAT YOU NEED

You can use any yarn weight you like, just make sure you use the same yarn weight for the entire doll’s body and accessories. Hair is optional to make in a lighter weight.

 

In addition to the original sized doll portrayed in this pattern, I have listed some possible yarn weight options below. Yarn amount and hook sizes may vary according to your personal preference.

CHOOSE YOUR SIZE

Approximate (rounded) sizes from the top of the head to the tip of the toe // Hook sizes (metric)

TINY – Lace weight with sewing thread 8” (20 cm) // 1.00

ORIGINAL – Sock weight with lace weight. 10” (25 cm) // 2.00

MEDIUM – Sport weight with lace weight 14” (35 cm) // 2.50

UP-SIZED – Worsted weight with sock weight.  16” (45 cm) // 4.00

SUPER SIZED – Bulky yarn with DK 25” (65 cm) // 6.00 – 7.00

 

ORIGINAL

Sock weight: 50 g (1.75 oz) // 170 m (186 yds)

 

Hooks:

2.0 mm hook for the doll and accessories.

 

Doll:

Body color approximately 25g per doll without color changing. I made 2 dolls from one skein.

Lace weight for hair: 50 g (1.75 oz) // 280 m (306 yds) Black 10-20 g

 

Broom:

5-8 g brown scrap yarn for broom handles.

20 g Sisal cord in the same weight as your yarn for the doll.

 

Hats:

8-10 g for each one.

 

TOOLS & OTHER MATERIALS

Wire, for the arms and legs, to make them poseable.

Chopstick (or other tool) to help fill the arms and legs.

Strong pliers.

Scissors.

Needle.

Fiber filling.

Safety eyes.

 

FINISHING DETAILS

Lace weight scrap yarn for eyes and lips.

Body or mask color scrap yarn in your weight, for eyelids.

Black acrylic paint (or the same color as yarn chosen for hands and feet)

Two small brushes and some water.

Intermediate to advanced.
